Same. But Different. 🎥

Scroll for 10 seconds on TikTok or Reels.

You’ll notice something.

Most content that performs well isn’t completely new.

It reminds you of something you’ve already seen…
But it adds a twist.

That’s the zone where attention lives.

However, don’t be like James Franco (like you’ll see later, “But Still Same” doesn’t work)

📱 Formats can help, but they’re not the solution

There’s a reason certain formats keep coming back.

They’re familiar enough that people understand them instantly.

But if you copy them exactly, you disappear inside them.

The format is the container, but you are the differentiator.

🔄 Change One Element

Sometimes you don’t need to reinvent everything.

Sometimes it’s enough to change one element:

• Shoot in a kitchen instead of a studio
• Deliver the same idea, but quieter and more intimate
• Flip the angle
• Add a subtle narrative
• Bring your real personality instead of copying tone

Small shifts create contrast.

Small contrast creates attention. 👀

If nothing is different, people scroll.

🚫 Don’t Be a Copycat

There’s a fine line.

If you copy a format exactly, you’re replaceable.
If you chase trends without identity, you disappear the moment the trend dies.

Your identity is the anchor.

The format can be inspired.
The delivery must be yours.

The goal isn’t to blend in.
It’s to be recognizable.

🧪 Experiment or Start the Trend

Sometimes you follow a pattern.

Sometimes you break it.

Testing variations is part of the process. Try different settings. Different hooks. Different entry points. Some ideas won’t land. Some will surprise you.

And occasionally, you go full tabula rasa. You build something nobody has seen before. That’s how trends are born.

But even then, the core has to connect back to you.

If people love the format but don’t associate it with your music, you’re just entertaining the algorithm.

🔍 Why This Works

Attention online follows patterns.

People engage with content they understand quickly. But they stay for content that feels personal.

Too similar and you’re invisible.
Too random and you’re confusing.

The balance is intentional.

This is exactly what we talk about inside The Virality Myth.

In this eBook, we introduce the VIBES Method, a framework designed to help artists understand why some content gains traction while other ideas disappear. It gives you a way to think about momentum in a structured way.

If you want to see how this connects and how to apply it to your own content strategy, you can explore it here.

Experiment.
Adjust.
But always make sure it still feels like you. 🎧✨
